Moving to a new place gives you a chance to not only purge but also a chance to try new organization tricks. When I recently unpacked+untangled my statement necklaces (which took FOREVER), I realized, I desperately needed a new way to keep them straight.
My old method of keeping them together was by using a metal picture frame holder. I know, not the best system.
I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for while pacing the aisles of Home Goods, one of my favorite home decor shops. I needed ideas and I needed inspiration. I tend to veer away from the trite systems that everyone is using or the products specific to your decor dilemma. I always look for new+ unexpected ways of doing things. I have the same approach when decorating. I looked at specific jewelry holders and ‘accessory systems.’ None of them worked.
Then, I found it, a coat rack! As soon I noticed it, I loved it! It’s atypical and not intended for necklaces but it works! What I loved even more are the design elements. The gold arrow symbolizes love. It also gives me a sense of ‘I’m headed in the right direction.’
It also works for several other reasons. One, it has enough hooks for all my necklaces both short and long. Second, I can see each of my necklaces. Third, each necklace is easily accessible. Fourth, it keeps my necklaces tangle-free.
The rack hangs in my bathroom suite so I can see it as I’m getting ready in the morning. I have room for each necklace and spots for more. YAY! Time for a little “me” present.
