Accessorizing is like pumping extra flowing butter on your movie popcorn. Your bag of buttery delight would be fine without the extra but it taste oh so good and so much better with a little more. Popcorn not your thing? Ok. Adding accessories is like that extra drizzle of caramel on the top layer of your latte or rainbow sprinkles on your yogurt or ice cream cup, frosting to top your cupcake, or yummy chocolate; just chocolate. Each of your indulgences would probably be fine without the drizzle of extra but it taste so much better with it.
That’s what adding accessories is like. Your outfits would likely be ok as stand-alone looks but gosh, they look so much better with a little extra pop of color, a statement necklace, a handbag, a printed shoe or even a pattern scarf or head wrap. Other times, your outfits absolutely need accessories to make them complete.
How do you know what to buy? You don’t. You just buy what catches your eye. When you see a stylish handbag, no matter the color, or a great shoe, no matter the style, you just buy it. You can figure out later what to pair it with once you get home; that’s what I’m here for. And when it’s on killer sale, you dare not leave it in the store. You must bring her home, especially if she’s the last one on the rack.
Accesorizing Style Ideas
Starry Night- I’m wearing all black; one of my favorite styling ideas. I upgraded this look with just a couple strong accessories. An awesome T.J. Maxx handbag and a gold beaded with tassel Betsy Pittard necklace. The hues in the bag, necklace and my Vince Camuto wedges each tie-in together and enhance my all black ensemble.
Glimmering Glam– Styling a green Banana Republic clutch in another color that’s not black or white, doubling your statement necklaces and adding a cuff that pulls it all together, enhances this look to glam. Finish with a fantastic pair of cutout T.J. Maxx booties.
Casually Understated– This is a perfect Friday or weekend look. Layering a statement necklace on top of a white tank gives new meaning to casual. Little details matter too. The Banana Republic animal print skinny belt ties in the hues in the necklace and gold cuff bracelet.
Color Pops– When I’m not wearing black, I like to venture into a field of color. Simple color pops add wow to your look and amp your compliment count. Here’s a look I helped a friend style. Statement accessories made a huge difference. Red+Turquoise are gorgeous hues paired together. Her gold bag and gold cuff bracelet picked up the gold chain and gold clamps in the Kendra Scott necklace. The statement ring is in-sync with the lace shoulder detail.
Nature’s Way Mixed Media: I also LOVE to mix texture. Edged wood, carved wood, and hammered gold and are eco-friendly combinations. Stacked nature arm candy is another way to accessorize. Placement is the key. Border and surround larger, thicker bangles with skinnier ones.
